Come and see the panto! “Little Caribbean Mermaid” will be a hit!

little caribbean mermaid pantomimeEvery two years the Turks & Caicos Friends of the Arts put on a Christmas pantomime at Brayton Hall, Providenciales – and this year the story is “The Little Caribbean Mermaid & the Enchanted Ring”. It stars a dedicated and talented amateur cast & crew, who give up a huge amount of their free time to put on an exciting and fun-packed show that appeals to adults and children alike.

The Christmas pantomime is a long-standing British theatre tradition, combining music, comedy, dance, slapstick, and adventure, and usually based on a traditional fable or fairy story. Just about every town in the UK that has a theatre or hall will stage one of these entertaining family shows at Christmas, and it’s great to see this fun tradition being carried on here in Turks & Caicos.

The show is at Brayton Hall, and performances are on December 3rd, 4th and 5th at 7pm, and again on December 10th, 11th and 12th. There are special childrens’ matinee performances at 2pm on Saturday 5th and Saturday 12th.

Tickets are available at the Unicorn Bookstore, Saltmills Diner, or Graceway IGA, as well as online via the TCFAF website. It’s going to be tremendous fun so do come along and bring the whole family!

On Monday I attended the dress rehearsal and took some photos – just to whet your appetite! You can also see the trailer for the show here on Vimeo

Here’s the traditional “panto dame” – who always has the most outrageous costumes and is played by a man!
