Photo sessions for families and larger groups
Turks & Caicos is a country with a big family tradition – you only have to attend a local wedding and see how many aunt, uncles, cousins, and second cousins are taking part to figure that out! And that sense of family applies to our visitors too – we often do photo-sessions for extended family groups, where three and even four generations come together for a vacation – and have us record the special event.
Here is a quick video that we hope gives you an idea of how and what we do!
The most common comment we get after our family sessions is “Wow! that was fun!” Whether it’s a simple portrait session on the beach, or an “Island Escape” boat trip to the white sands of a deserted cay, this is not your average studio photo-shoot.
Our main aim is to get everybody relaxed and enjoying themselves, so that half the time they aren’t even thinking about the camera. For bigger family groups we’ll bring an extra photographer, who helps keep things moving along, makes funny noises to entertain toddlers and babies, and also gets those great candid shots when nobody’s looking!
How do we book?
Just call Kellie on (649) 946 4059. She can tell you all about our session options, and answer any questions you may have. Or you can email her – kellie @ brilliant.tc. Full payment for the session is required to confirm your date and time on our calendar.
When’s the best time of day?
For location sessions we advise scheduling the shoot either early in the morning, or during the hour before sunset. It’s cooler, the light is more directional and softer, and you won’t get so hot. But it’s whatever works for you – our Island Escape (which includes a boat trip) is popular too – out on the ocean there’s a breeze to keep you cool.
What should we wear?
Some families like to have everyone in matching outfits – it’s your call – but having everyone dressed totally identically can make you look like a football team! What we do suggest is to avoid clothes with strong patterns – simple plain colors work best. But that doesn’t mean everyone has to wear white and khaki – strong solid colors like red and aqua work well too. The main thing is to have comfortable clothes that can withstand getting a bit sandy and wet – we’re going to have everyone running around and having a good time!
Are there packages available?
Yes of course! Details are here on our website, or Kellie will be happy to email you our information pack. We have packages both for the photo or video sessions themselves, and also great-value packages that offer savings on prints, albums, digital files, or a combination.
How do we see our pictures?
After the shoot, your photographer will spend some time editing the images – taking out duplicate shots and any that have technical imperfections. Except at really busy times of year we can normally do this within a couple of days of the session, so we’ll arrange a time for you to come in to our viewing room and take a look at the pictures on our big TV! At the viewing we’ll also give you some great ideas about how you can use your images – whether it’s an album, enlargements for the wall, canvas wraps and art prints, or a DVD slideshow or online movie.
We will also put your images online in a password-protected gallery – most of our packages include a print credit which is valid for two weeks from when the images go online so you don’t necessarily have to make your final choice at the viewing.
We live outside Turks & Caicos – is it going to cost extra to ship prints etc to us?
No – we have shipping arrangements with our professional photo-lab and album manufacturers in the the USA – prints and albums will in most cases be delivered direct to your door by UPS or FedEx. We have a flat-rate $10 shipping charge for print orders, regardless of size or quantity. Album prices are inclusive of shipping. For Turks & Caicos residents we have our own in-house printing facility, so print sizes up to 24″ x 36″ can be made locally, saving you shipping and import duty. The only things that may incur FedEx charges are items such as digital files on disk which we have to send from here, but we’ll advise you of that if it arises.
