Yesterday was an exciting day – the ground floor concrete base was poured. So now you can start to see the shape and layout of the whole studio. It really is something to see a building start to appear after the months of drawings, conversations and discussions. It’s also a little daunting – did I make the right decisions!! Is it going to be big enough !! Anyway concrete is poured so it’s ALL GO now !!
Having been in Turks and Caicos for 15 years now and seeing all the big resorts and condo developments go up – I cannot imagine what a developer feels as their “creation” takes shape. Even our tiny building – which is less than one condo unit these days – is quite daunting… then again.
So Saturday morning – I received a text from Frank that the concrete pour was underway.
I will not go into details about “how they pour concrete”……I think it’s fairly obvious.
It’s a quick process though – they already had over half the floor done.
The gentleman moving the tube around – I think is “Leroy” – he has been building on Provo since the early 1990’s….
This is the “studio” end of the building rather than the workspace. As we do so much on location it doesn’t need to be huge, but it will be great to have.
This is the view from the front door! So a welcome area directly in front, with the rebar sticking up marking the start of the stairs to the upper level.
A view from the front left hand corner of the building. The foreground area will be all open-plan office space – maybe 4-5 people.
So talking with Jay, it appears that the concrete block will arrive on site on Monday morning (tomorrow) and that the walls will start to go up next week. Jay is forecasting that we will have a roof on the building in 9-10 weeks and have the keys the first week in December!!!! OMG!!
So not much green stuff to report to date – however from now on we’ll start to see some of the details that we have built into the build to make it “green”…
Hey Chris!
Great news! Looking forward to watching the progress. You deserve the best…..and greenest!!
Jim
